The Harold Youngblood Gymnasium was filled with laughter, tears, and hugs as the Vacaville High School community came together to support one of their own battling cancer.
Jessie Lenox, a senior who has been undergoing treatments for Hodgkin's Lymphoma, was surprised by a gym filled with her friends, all wearing a T-shirt created in her honor. In addition to designing the shirt, the friends, led by Reagan Fisher and assisted by teachers Eric Chappell, Megan Oman, Julia and David Monk, sold the shirts to raise money for her.
The group also received amazing support from a local company that more than matched the money raised with t-shirt sales, and Jessie received a check for $95,000.
How did Jessie round out her special day? She ran the anchor leg of the 4 x 800 relay in the Bulldogs dual track meet against Will C. Wood.
