The VUSD Board of Trustees approved a Facilities Master Plan for the district on March 2nd, 2024. This plan was the culmination of extensive evaluation and feedback from stakeholders throughout the district, including staff, students, parents, administrators, and community members. The board further refined this plan in the Fall of 2022 by prioritizing potential projects in to three main categories: 1.) A New School, 2.) Safety and Security Improvements, and 3.) Modernization of Aging Facilities. The master plan includes $500 million of eligible projects, which would have the greatest positive impact in those areas within the next eight years. Because the state does not provide adequate funding for school Facilities, these projects are laid out in concept only. Completion of these projects depends entirely on the district’s ability to fund them in the future, which may require a future bond measure.
